Would you like to travel in time back to USSR? Then visit Trans-Dniestr region and you will not forget about it… It is here where you can see the symbols of Soviet times- hammer and sickle, red star reflected on the coat of arms of Pridnestrovian Moldovan Republic. We rwccomend you to visit the capital of PMR- Tiraspol city-the second largest city in Moldova after Chisinau and the largest in the Trans-Dniestr region. The name of the city comes from the Greek words “Tiras”- Dniestr(the river), and “polis”- city.

To fotify the new borders of the Russian Empire in 1792 on the left bank of the Dniestr River by the special order of the Great Russian Generalissimo A. Sovorov the fortress was built. Later near the fortress in 1795 the town of Tiraspol was founded.

We advise you to have a walk about the city center, to visit the Square of the Soviet Constitution, where the main administrative buildings are situated, to see the monuments of the Lenin and A. Suvorov, the Memorial Complex of Military Glory.The excursion can befolowed by the visit to the oldest distillery in Moldova- “Kvint” founded in 1897 and widely known for the production of superior quality and collection divines(brandy) of different age (5-40 years).

Those eager to plunge into the religion history of this region will be impressed by the trip to the Noul Neamts monastery- the largest religious architectural complex in Moldova located 5 km from Tiraspol city.
